365 dresses – about the project

December 30, 2009 at 7:02 pm (Charity, dresses, Fashion, photography, Uncategorized) ()

As part of my blog for 2010 I will be running a fashion feature called 365 dresses in aid of mental health charity Mind.  Tonight will be the last night this decade, indeed for a year I will be able to wear anything other than a dress.  I was inspired to start the project because I enjoy embracing the traditional notions of femininity which are creative, expressive and attractive.  I also got the idea behind the length and format of the project from a friend whose boyfriend had promised to buy her a new coat or  shoes if she wore a dress 20 times in a row when she saw him.

The rules of the project will be that I am not allowed to buy any of the dresses I wear during the course of 2010 and I must wear a different dress every day, not one I have modified from two weeks before with a belt.  I already have a substantial dress collection myself and will be borrowing dresses from others and be dependent on donations to keep the project going throughout the year.  Any dresses donated will be sold on to raise money for charity.

I am still looking for partners in this project both in the Market Harborough and Greater Manchester area as well as further afield so do please get in touch if you would like to get involved.
